Theo Vorster was born on 11 May 1964 in a small Free State town called Zastron. Here he spent his carefree days in and around his father’s medical practice and accompanying him to the clinics in Lesotho or exploring a farmer’s daily routine on the farm of family friends.
In 1969 the family moved to Bloemfontein were he matriculated from Grey College School.
During June 1977, whilst the family holidayed in Durban, he experimented with his mother’s camera at the Oceanarium. The end result was beautiful action photographs of the dolphins which exited him immensely and convinced him to take up photography.
He started his photography “life” with a Pentax K1000 camera, but during his army training he invested in his first NIKON camera. He has never looked back and is the proud owner of various vintage Nikon cameras.
He started his high school education and joined the Grey Camera Club. Extremely excited and filled with dreams, he converted an outdoor room at his parents’ house in his first studio and developed his own black & white photographs. During the same year, he was asked to take black and white photographs at his first wedding event.
As the years past, he gained experience in most photography genres – architecture, events / shows, journalism, sport, weddings, model and wildlife photography which all form part of his portfolio.
BUT his greatest photography passions are WILDLIFE and MODELS.
His favourite venue for wildlife photographs is the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park where he can wait for hours for the perfect photograph to arrange itself in his camera lenses. He undertook his first exploration in his 1400 Nissan Langley during June / July 1994. He has since ventured back 13 times to this pristine wilderness area and upgraded to the proud owner of a LandRover.
His exposure to model photography started in 1988. His portfolio was included in MERCER MODELS (similar to Model Mayhem and Modelbase) and was also chief photographer at UBA Models. Whilst living in Bloemfontein, he hosted his first model search event in 2005. At the end of 2006 he moved to Pretoria and hosted similar events during 2007, 2009 and 2011.
PHOTOGRAPHY IS MY PASSION – A TALENT I RECEIVED FROM GOD WHICH I LOVE TO SHARE WITH FRIENDS!
